What does the Jeep Renegade offer?
The Jeep Renegade is a subcompact SUV, emphasis on compact. The passengers in the rear seat, might not have the most leg room. The Renegade has traditionally offered five trim levels the Sport, Latitude, Altitude, Trailhawk, and Limited. The Renegade also has a new edition added every year, and since 2015 the trims have changed a little bit every year. The above trims are the mainstays and for off-roaders who definitely need all of the capability that a seven slot grille should offer, the Trailhawk trim is the trim for you. If you want an off-road ready vehicle with all the comfort on the road that the Wrangler is missing, the Renegade is your SUV. Differences between the model years will be listed below.
2015 Jeep Renegade
The first model year of the Jeep Renegade. This compact SUV was aimed at smaller roads and cities and had more ability than its rivals. This one comes with a 1.4 liter turbocharged inline 4 engine, or a 2.4 liter inline 4 engine. The base engine comes with a manual transmission, and only the upper level engine has an automatic transmission.
2016 Jeep Renegade
This model came with some more options. Some of these options included a 506 w power outlet, rain sensing wipers, beats audio system, and a variety of new colors. Other than that the Renegade remained mostly the same.
2017 Jeep Renegade
Little changed to the Jeep’s exterior and interior, but a few more options were added. Push button start became available across the lineup, remote start became standard on the Limited trim. Automatic high beam lights also became an available feature. The trims available in 2017 were the Sport, Altitude, Latitude, Limited, Trailhawk and Deserthawk. Engine options remained the same.
2018 Jeep Renegade
The Deserthawk trim was removed from the lineup and a special Upland Edition was released for this year. A new touchscreen was added to the lineup that increased in size as trims increased in price.
2019 Jeep Renegade
Jeep refreshed the Renegade in 2019, added a new engine and the 2.4 liter four cylinder engine became the standard engine. A new turbocharged 1.3 liter engine became the upper trim engine, and the manual transmission was dropped. New colors were added with an updated grille and a host of new options.
2020 Jeep Renegade
The Jeep Renegade did not change much in 2020 due to the recent update in 2019. New Renegades came with a year subscription to the Uconnect app that allows you to remotely unlock your app from your phone. The Upland trim was added to the lineup for this year.
2021 Jeep Renegade
In 2021 the Renegade remained mostly the same but loads of options became standard across the lineup such as blind spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist and other safety features. The lineup also received a few more editions such as the Islander Edition, Freedom Edition, and 80th Anniversary Edition. The High Altitude trim fell from the lineup in 2021.
2022 Jeep Renegade
The 2022 Renegade shed a few trim levels after the eight different trims from the previous year. The new lineup consisted of the Sport, Latitude, Red Edition, Trailhawk and Limited. It also lost its 2.4 liter four cylinder engine, and the only engine across the lineup became the turbocharged four cylinder.
2023 Jeep Renegade
This Jeep received fresh updates to the trim lineup. The Renegade dropped the Sport trim and front wheel drive. Every model now comes with all-wheel drive, and a host of equipment changes have been made.
